With 4 learning modes, improved custom playlists, powerful dynamic search, and improved textual display- V2 will knock your socks off*!
*Picmonic can not be held liable for any lost socks.
Below you’ll find answers to virtually any question you might have regarding this awesome upgrade!
Where did V1 go?
You know how they say nothing ever really gets deleted from the internet? Well, they are wrong. Unlike those Snapchat photos, V1 will not be accessible after August 15th. But have no fear, V2 is a seriously amazing upgrade. Just give it a chance and we know you’ll fall in love.
What are the four learning modes?
The four learning modes are Listen, Explore, Review, and Quiz.
Listen – The inaugural step in learning a Picmonic. Designed to help you connect every key fact to it’s visual character. So that you remember the entire image.
Explore – This step is designed to help you learn the information and the details of every fact within the image. We encourage you to take notes, review the summary and check out the discussion board. Once you have a solid foundation move onto Review.
Review – All the text will now be hidden! You should be able to remember the image. Try and recall every fact from it’s visual representation or character.
Once you’re sure you’ve got all the key facts down, it’s time to Quiz yourself!
Quiz – Here’s the hard part, or the easiest. The picture will now be hidden. Can you visualize the masked characters and the key facts they represent? Can you remember what comes next? This is especially helpful for remembering steps to different processes!
What is the “My Brain” area?
The new name for your Library is “My Brain”. Every single Picmonic that you have subscribed to will be in this area. And eventually… in your brain! MUAHAH!
What is the “Planet” area?
The Planet is totally new! Here, you’ll be able to see ALL Picmonic cards for every single area of study. The Planet (aka: Store) contains every Picmonic from all of our product lines. You can subscribe anytime to gain access to these cards in your Brain. So if you’re an MCAT student who is interested in seeing what Med cards we offer, you can have a little looksee. Think of it like the iTunes store, where you can see everything that’s offered. But just like how you can’t have a song in your library until you’ve purchased it, you can’t actually access a set of cards unless you’ve subscribed to that product as a Premium member.
Soon, everyone will be able to create & share their own Picmonic’s in the Planet!
How awesome is Search?
VERY, VERY AWESOME! You can search for any Picmonic, anytime! Not only can you search by the card name, but you can also search by First Aid page number, characters included in the card!
Click the plus sign on the righthand side of the search results to easily add that card to your playlist.
How do Filters work?
Filters will help you narrow down the cards you’re seeing. If you check off on a certain filter, such as “Flagged”, you’ll see only cards that are flagged on the right. You can now filter by subject area, confidence rating, keywords, and more. You can apply more than one filter at once to find just the cards you’re looking for.
Can I sort by First Aid page #?
Yep! When you’re browsing the Picmonics within your Brain (Library) under the “Group” option, just choose which edition of First Aid you would like to order your cards by!
You can even search by First Aid, Kaplan’s MCAT Prep and a variety of nursing resources by page number using the Search bar at the top!
How do I create a custom playlist?
To create a new playlist, expose your playlist container by clicking the playlist icon in the upper right hand corner of the top navigation, then click the playlist drop down. You’ll see a list of all of your playlists, just click the “New Playlist” option at the top and add cards to it!
To add cards to a playlist, click the plus sign in the upper right-hand corner of a Picmonic thumbnail. It will turn into a blue checkmark to indicate that it has been added to your custom playlist. To deselect it, click the minus sign.
How do I organize my custom playlist?
At the top of your playlist will be a “Sort” dropdown menu. Just choose how you would like your playlist to be organized! You can have it automatically organized by title or confidence rating, or you can create your own Custom Order!
Where did Classic and Creative audios go?
The audio walkthroughs are now titled “Educational” and “Story.” When you’re in the Picmonic Player, just click on the headphones icon (aka Audio Settings) to choose which audio track you’d like to listen to!
You can also adjust this in your Site Settings accessed by clicking on your Profile Badge in the upper right-hand corner of your screen. Under “Picmonic Player Settings” you’ll find an option to change your “Default Audio”.
How do I change my password?
If you’ve forgotten your password, just click here to reset it.
If you know your password, but would like to change it, just sign in and click on your Profile Badge (it’s the icon with the tiny person). Under your Site Settings you’ll be able to enter a new password.
How do I enter my school?
In the upper right-hand corner of your screen, you’ll see your Profile Badge (it’s the icon with the tiny person). Click on your Profile Badge, click on the “Edit Profile” option, and you’ll see an area where you can enter in your school.
You can also alter other aspects of your Profile here, like username and email.
Can I change my Profile picture?
But first, lemme take a #selfie!
Yes! In the upper right-hand corner of your screen, you’ll see your Profile Badge (it’s the icon with the tiny person). Just click your Profile Badge, click on the “Site Settings” option.
